Home, Day 2

All is well on the Gulnac home front!
Yes, we are home, we received approval from the state on Tuesday and flew home on Wednesday. Both the kids (wow, that sounds weird to put that statement in plural!) were WONDERFUL on all 3 of the connecting flights home. Mason slept, watched the inflight movie and then slept again. Hailey slept pretty much the entire way home. We got home about midnight on Wednesday night, it was such a good feeling to walk into our home with the "entire" family in tote.
Hailey is still doing well, last night she slept from 11:00 until 4:00, had a bottle and then went back down and it still sleeping as I type this. We feel so blessed that she is doing so well.
Mason is also doing well. He is adjusting and become more accustom to us having to share time and we are adjusting to having to share the time also.
The house is a wreck from just getting home, laundry is behind
I haven't downloaded any pictues yet, but I will and I will get them posted as soon as I can.
Take Care

Day 9

Thank you all for the wonderful comments! Day 9 was a day of rest, we didn't leave the hotel until 6 pm for dinner. Bryan and Mason went swimming, I think Mason is becoming a fish. He LOVES the pool!
See you all soon

Day 8

Day 8 - laid back. We are all ready to come I think. We went to breakfast this morning and went to Super Target and then came back to the room. We all went swimming while Hailey slept in her car seat. Mason is doing great with Hailey, when it is on his terms. He held and gave Hailey her bottle today. He is coming around and we are thankful for that.
No word yet from the agency her on the states finalization of paperwork. We should know more on Monday. Just waiting for them to finalize our documents to be able to take her outta state. Wednesday, here we come!!!

Day 7

Kemha Boardwlk and The Gulf of Mexico today. It was a georgeous day and the beach was nice. The majority of the events on Kemha Boardwalk were closed but it was fun just to walk around.

Day 6

Johnson Space Center today! It was awesome! We had a blast. We took a tour of the facility, we got to see the mission control center from back in the 60's, a few rockets, the memorial for the fallen astronauts, testing centers for pre-flight education. Everything was so cool. Mason got to try on a astronaut helmet as well.
Day 6 down and 6 days to go. We are 1/2 way there and ready to come home!

Day 5

Happy Birthday Grandma Coffee! We miss you, hope you had a wonderful day!
Today was extremely liad back, we were not able to meet Hailey's birthmom today as expected, perhaps later in the week. We didn't have anything planned for today, so we went to Walmart and found a few Texas Longhorn shirts for Bryan and Mason (orange is NOT my color, hehehe). I think we are tentatively planning to go to the Johnson Space Station tomorrow, if not, we we will try to get there on Friday. Hailey is still doing extremely well. She woke up about 2:00 am and then not until 7:00. Knock on wood, LUCKY US! Here are a few more photos. We miss you all!!!

Day 4

Today was very laid back. We drove to downtown Houston and went to the zoo. Mason had a BLAST, it was great to just walk around and be outside. It was flipp'n hot though! We rode on the Metro train from the park and ride to the zoo and back again. Mason thought that was THE coolest! All is well here. Can't wait to see everyone again at home.

Day 3

Day 3 down!
Today we went to the placement agency here in Houston. He meet with the social worker and signed the paperwork that will be filed witht the state of Texas for Hailey's ok to leave the state. The social work said the paperwork "should" be ready by next Monday. We went to Toy's R Us and went swimming in the pool with Mason. It was a blast. Hailey is thriving, she is still a very content baby, sleeping in about 4-5 hours strides. She is the perfect addition to our family!

Houston Day 2

And we are off and running. Last night went EXTREMELY well, she woke up only twice. Once about 3 and then again about 6:30. All is well. Mason is doing well. We were in the car this morning and he said "mommy, her fingers look like little caterpillars". He decided it was ok to hold her as well. We are making progress!
We ventured out to go grocery shopping and to try and track down things in the day light. We will be heading over the adoption agency here in Houston tomorrow to start the finalization process. We are excited to finally meet the social work that we have talked with many, many times between April and now.
Here are a few more photos.

We Are Here and She Is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

OMG, what a day! Flight was excellent, no delays, issues anything. Once in Houston we found our social workers home without incident and we were finally able to meet our new angel. She is wonderful, everything we had hoped. She hasn't (YET) made then a peep. Mason is doing well, it is going to be a bit of an adjustment for him as we had expected. Anywho, here are a few pictures, enjoy.

Another Dead End Road........

We found out yesterday that the birth mom had the baby over the Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately for us she decided that she wants to parent the baby so are match fell through again. At the moment I feel completely defeated, but I know there is a much bigger plan for the Gulnac family so back on the waiting list we go, 2 1/2 years and counting.

The Call....... AGAIN!

We were notified this morning that we have been matched with a birth mom from Texas. She is due with a baby girl on September 18th. We of course are EXTREMELY excited but have the memories of the last fall out in the back of our minds as well. We are cautiously approaching this, but I have come to learn that I am an all of nothing kinda girl. I know that my heart is on the line again, but I can't do it any other way. Keep you fingers and toes crossed and we will update again as we learn more.

No Call

Quick update on were we sit:
We have not been notified by our agency or the agency in Texas that Jodi has resurfaced or that she has delivered the baby.
At this point our agency as resubmitted our profile to the other agencies and we are back in the waiting pool. We are top on the list for any birthmom who comes in and doesn't want to know anything about the adoptive family, so that is a plus! The agency in Texas has also put our profile back out for their other birthmoms to look at.
Hopefully (keep your fingers crossed) this means we won't have a ton more time to wait. All in due time, all in due time.... I keep reminding myself this is happening for a reason and Jodi and our family were not meant to link together for some reason and I am ok with that.

Monday, April 27, 2009

We are so sad right now. We just found out that the birthmom has gone missing. Apparetenly the birthfather was served papers this past week regarding the adoption at which point he got VERY upset and physically abused the birthmom. She missed her last doctors appointment and has not be seen at her housing facility for over a week. Her cell phone has been sold to someone else and no one has been in contact with her. I pray that she and the baby are ok. What a terrible situation!

Quick Update

T minus 5 days and counting! I think we are pretty much packed and ready to head out. Our flight leaves Tuesday the 28th at 5:15 AM. We will be in Houston by 5:00 pm and at that time will be meeting with the birthmom and her social worker for dinner. Bryan and I are a bit nervous (of course) to meet the them but we are also very excited at the same time. This is such a roller coaster of emotion and we haven't even left yet!

We Got the Call!!

OMG! Finally after almost 2 years of rollercoastering emotions and descisions the silence has been BROKEN! We have been matched with a birth mom from Texas. She is due to have a c-section on April 29th! We are so excited. Mason is very excited to be a big brother as well.
